Bronx Zoo 2011

Jay, Sandra, the kids & I made our annual trip to the Bronx Zoo last week. It was a great day, as always. We did, however, pick one of the hottest days; fortunately, we had plenty of water and the kids had their spray H2O bottles that we bought last year (another HOT day).

Here's Sandra & the kids on route...

Joseph.....

Those spray water bottles were great!!!

HOT! HOT! HOT!

Kids using i-pod touches to take pictures....

Some cool animals.....

Love the lemurs in the Madagascar Exhibit

Elizabeth in the Children's Zoo
1st, she is in a heron nest

Next, she has climbed up a spider web..... such a cute spider!!!

Lunch - a very good thing!!!

Giraffes - my favorite :)

Lions..... they have 3 cubs, but none were on view - but this was the very best view we have had of the adult male & female lions...

Tradition - the camel ride (though, alas, the kids are too big to ride with Ama) - This year's camel's name was Nicki (just like my little Elizabeth Nichole)

The monorail through "Asia" -
it's a great time to be out of the sun & off your feet on a hot NYC day!

At the butterfly garden, we have our traditional pictures of the kids as midge flies...

Zebra Butterflies....

 And bumblebees.....

That's all folks!!!

Umbrella Factory - Emus & more

The Umbrella Factory in Charlestown is an intriging spot I've wanted to stop in at for a while. Todd & Jennifer and I did just that today on our way home from a little walk with Alana. It's lovely! Nice (if somewhat overpriced) plants and several shops with "stuff" to purchase (we didn't). There are ducks, chickens, goats & emus to entertain the young & old. Fun :)

Jim's Party

Great party! Jim is an amazing octogenarian! Happy Birthday, Jim!

Hummingbirds

This male hummingbird was "dancing about" in Dick's garden yesterday, playing in the spray of the hose that waters the garden. It was quite amusing! After playing in the shower, he had to go get something to eat :)
